Mel Holder - Mega Pack (4 x CD / DVD)

Minister, musician (Producer/arranger/composer/performer), ambassador and promoter of the healing power of Jesus Christ, Mel’s unique gifting has touched numerous lives worldwide. From the ancient Asian city of Okinawa, Japan, through the secular Muslim nation of Azerbaijan, to the remote parts of post apartheid, South Africa, throughout the Caribbean, Europe, even in the socialist country of Cuba... and across the USA, this anointed Psalmist is parading the melody of his message …The healing of the nations, and preparation for the return of Christ. Born in Brooklyn NY, of Panamanian decent, Mel was a testimony in the making. From the early age of 6, he was hindered, from being a full participant in all of life’s youthful activities, by asthma. However, God taught him through that challenge to become a focused, relentless warrior. This physical impairment made it quite difficult for Mel to breathe normally, but at age of 9, he accidentally picked up his sister’s clarinet, and began to make haunting sounds with it. Mel’s family immediately knew that this was Divine intervention, since such an act was deemed impossible based on his physical condition. This was a testament to the undeniable light of Gods healing power, and the beginning of miracles in young Holder’s Journey to musical manhood. During Mel’s early school years, he developed a passion for the saxophone and made a commitment to master it. His mother made great sacrifices, due to the difficulties of those days, to give her only son, a quality instrument. Mel’s appreciation fueled his enthusiasm, and his dedication, making his desire to play the horn continuously, a matchless one. So possessed was this young genius, that as he increased in skill, he also increased in Cunning. He made deals with his mother, which allowed him liberty to perform with bands in clubs at a young age in exchange for steady attendance at church and Sunday school. Mel Holder, Barbara Streisand, Shaggy, James D-Train Williams, Pastor James Cymbala, are all a part of the Alumni of Erasmus Hall Institute of Performing Arts in Brooklyn NY, where Mel Exceeded among his musical peers. On numerous occasions he received write-ups in the local newspapers as to his exceptional musicianship. During Mel’s growing popularity on the fast track, The Lord decided that his preliminary training was over, and that it was time for Mel to be sanctified for His work only. The hand of the Lord moved upon him while he was enjoying the lucrative perks in the jumping club scene of the 80s touring with the hottest Band in the USA at that time KC & the Sunshine Band. This eventually placed him in Miami. Mel was enjoying great financial success, attending Miami Dade college by day, and performing on Miami beach by night…when suddenly, one day he was covered with eczema all over his body…and had to leave the hot climate of South Florida…He was forced to leave everything that he had work for all his life, and return to his mothers home in Brooklyn, New York, where the climate was more bearable for his health condition. Mel’s trip back home to New York placed him at his appointed hour with destiny to receive Jesus in his life as personal Lord and Savior. This life defining moment happened under the ministry of the late Nellie Leakey in Brooklyn NY. Pastor Leakey and her son Ronnie Leakey Jr. became Mel’s early Pastor and mentor in the gospel. While at one of the church youth retreats in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, Mel met a very young and exuberant preacher, B. Courtney McBath, who was the guest speaker on this trip. Minister McBath baptized Mel, and started a life long mentorship with him. While attending the youth based ministry of UICC, Mel enrolled at United Christian College where he studied evangelism. He often speaks of his training year as a time of faith where he truly learned how to be a servant. One defining moment occurred in a remedial role of cleaning the toilets in the church, he was being tormented by the enemy in humiliation of how God had taken him from being a national artist to a minimum wage janitor…Mel’s tenure in Ministry had began. The Young Minister began successfully evangelizing all of his friends and fellow musicians, converting them into Christianity and before too long, began showing his leadership qualities. After graduating Bible School, Mel was blessed with a Band Leader position under Loris Holland, Minister of Music at Pilgrim Church, where Bishop Roy E. Brown was pastor. There he served faithfully for eights years. While in that position young Minister Holder began to meet many of the national gospel recording artist, since the church was a well known and recognized place for renowned preachers and gospel recording artist alike. Multiple relationships were developed with other artist, which segued him into collaborations, productions and live events. Very soon Mel was working with the gospel music ministry and the business practices, which were much worse than the secular side of things, suddenly disillusioned him. After becoming frustrated and burned out from this phase he was introduced to the ministry of then Christian Life Center (currently known as Christian Cultural Center). This experience was much different to what he experienced earlier. There he adhered to the teaching doctrine, which placed its focus on character, integrity and a sound personal relationship with God. They were not one bit interested in his musical talents. The ministry’s policy was membership for one year before service in any capacity and Mel’s residence on the waiting list took all of three years. He has come to realize now that that was the best thing that could have ever happened to him, as it molded him into the Psalmists that he has become today. Now under the teaching and ministry of Dr. A.R. Bernard, Mel Holder has gathered spiritual principles and roots, which powered him into music ministry. Mel's first CD was released in 1997, and Since then, Mel has accrued a very aggressive ministry schedule which permits him to minister at a wide range of events, nationally and internationally. Although Mel’s role in Christian music is still being defined, as an innovative Psalmists, he stands firmly on the healing that he has received from God, as he now sustains long notes, which are humanly impossible, serving to remind himself of how difficult it was for him to just breathe naturally. Mel Holder is now a psalmist at The Music Church, heading the public relations division; he is dedicated to empowering and motivating the youth, and making preparation for the return of The King.
